The Foundry: a Christian Church

ONE Calling — Why the Church Matters

May 24, 2026    Trevor Harrison

Many people today view the church as optional, secondary, or simply one spiritual resource among many. But according to Scripture, the church is central to God’s plan for the world.

Jesus gave leaders to the church not to do all the ministry themselves, but to equip God’s people for works of service. The church is meant to be a place where believers grow into maturity, discover their calling, and build one another up in love.

This message helps people see that church is not just about attending services—it is about becoming the people of God together.

When the church is healthy:

• people grow spiritually,

• relationships deepen,

• gifts are activated,

• and the mission of Jesus advances.

This week invites your congregation to move from passive attendance to active ownership of the mission and vision of the church.

Big Idea: The church matters because it is God’s chosen means to form disciples, build community, and carry His mission into the world.
