DINNER WITH JESUS - Week 5

Jun 30, 2024    Trevor Harrison

We all know what it’s like to hit bumps in our life. We all know what it’s like to experience circumstances that feel so bad and so overwhelming we aren’t quite sure we’ll ever find a way out. And if we do? It feels like things will never be as good as they were before. One of the best things about the Bible is that it includes all kind of experiences from people who—though they lived thousands of years ago—have relatable emotions, disappointments, frustrations, and resulting despair. The thing we find in these stories over and over again, especially this week as we look at two disciples on their way to Emmaus after the crucifixion of Jesus, is when we need it most, Jesus does not leave us alone in our despair. He shows up. He works in ways we may not recognize at first. And in the moment when our disillusionment nearly blinds us to the good, our eyes are opened to see Jesus was there the whole time.
